Responsibilities of Authors

The Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Studies (JECS) holds authors accountable for upholding the highest standards of research and publication ethics. Authors are expected to comply with the following responsibilities.

1. Originality and Submission

  • Ensure that the manuscript is original and has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere for consideration.
  • Do not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
  • Obtain all necessary permissions from individuals, organizations, or copyright holders for materials included in the manuscript.

2. Data Integrity and Availability

  • Ensure that all data presented are accurate, reliable, and verifiable.
  • Provide raw data for editorial review if requested. Be prepared to make data publicly available when appropriate, unless restricted by ethical, legal, or privacy considerations.
  • Retain data for at least three years after publication and make them accessible to qualified researchers through institutional or subject-based repositories, while protecting participant confidentiality and proprietary rights.

3. Research Ethics and Human Participants

  • Obtain ethical approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or ethics committee for research involving human participants. Include a statement confirming compliance in the manuscript.
  • Comply with the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association.
  • Obtain informed consent from all human participants and protect their privacy and confidentiality rights.
  • Obtain appropriate permissions, consents, and releases when including case details, personal information, or images of individuals. Written consent must be retained and provided to JECS upon request.

4. Conflicts of Interest and Acknowledgments

  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research or interpretation of findings.
  • Provide appropriate citations and acknowledgments for all referenced sources.

5. Peer Review and Post-Publication

  • Participate in the peer review process and respond promptly and professionally to reviewer comments and editorial requests.
  • Promptly notify the editor if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered in their published work and cooperate fully to correct or retract the article when necessary.

6. Compliance

  • Agree, upon submission, to comply with all publication policies of JECS.
