Responsibilities of Editors

← Back to Publication Policy

Editors are responsible for safeguarding the integrity and quality of the Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Studies (JECS). Their decisions and actions ensure that the publication process remains fair, transparent, and aligned with international ethical standards.

1. Publication Decisions

  • Make publication decisions based on the scholarly merit, originality, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal's scope.
  • Decisions are guided by reviewer reports and are free from commercial or political influence.

2. Fair and Transparent Peer Review

  • Ensure that the peer review process is fair, unbiased, and conducted with transparency.
  • Select reviewers based on their expertise and ensure they have no conflicts of interest.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the identities of authors and reviewers throughout the review process.

3. Ethical Oversight

  • Address ethical concerns or conflicts that arise before or after publication.
  • Take appropriate action when ethical issues or misconduct are identified, including issuing corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.
  • All actions follow the guidelines and flowcharts provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

4. Conflict of Interest Management

  • Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.
  • In such cases, another member of the editorial board will handle the submission independently.
